RED Academy teams provide a elite training above the rep level. We prioritize a fun and competitive environment for the players to learn and develop. We ensure a holistic, nurturing home for players to also grow as people. Teams are coached by experienced, knowledgeable, and qualified coaches.

FAQ
When and where do teams train and play games?
As a member of Ontario Soccer, RED Academy teams play out of the Southwest Soccer district. Regional teams play in the Western Regional Soccer League - iModel starting at U13.
Our program runs for 10 months from November to August. All teams train 2-3 times per week throughout the winter, and 3+ sessions in the spring/summer.
Our leagues begin in May and run until the end of August. Competitive teams may play in the PISL Indoor League.
Our teams practice at a number of indoor facilities in the Waterloo Region including RIM Park, Bechtel, UW Field House, and Marden.
Outdoor training will be held in Waterloo at Westmount Sports Fields and Bechtel Park.
What is the RED Academy Player Pathway?
RED Academy provide players with opportunities to continue playing the game after graduating from the club.
Our technical leadership share over 45 years of experience in USPORTS and CCAA programs. Coach Peter and Coach Stuart are the head coaches of the Women's and Men's Varsity programs at Conestoga College. Coach Jamie and Coach Sebastian work as assistants with the programs. Peter previously worked in the OUA as the head coach of the Waterloo Warriors for 15 years.
RED will work with players on an individual level to help them find the next step in their soccer pathways after RED. Our team of staff have the connections and expertise to find a suitable home for players.
Our club have developedplayers who have gone on to play in USPORTS, CCAA, NCAA, and professional programs. In addition to post secondary opportunities, RED have graduated 30+ players to the League1 programs in our community and in the GTA. Our pathway allows for seamless transition from youth competitive to League1 opportunities.
2025/26 Fees
U9-U12 Grassroots- $2800
U13-U18 District - $3500
U13-U18 iModel (Includes Indoor League Play)- $4000
*Fees are approximate based and will fluctuate on a team by team basis
Fees are collected in installments, and they cover the following:
- Outdoor League Fees (Indoor League Fees not included)
- Canada Soccer and District Fees
- Indoor/Outdoor Training Fields
- Game Fees (Fields, Referees)
- Administration
- Tournament Fees (2x team)
- VEO Camera
- Offseason S&C
*** Uniforms are not included as they are paid to Sports Link directly
Financial Assistance
Affordability for all children should never be a barrier for participation at RED. We work with families who need assistance with in-house financial assistance and external grants and funding. For more information on our fee assistance, contact Stuart.

Peter Mackie
Peter Mackie is no stranger to the Kitchener-Waterloo Region and surrounding communities.
With over 30 years of professional playing and coaching experience, Peter leads all academy programming at RED Academy of Soccer.
In addition to his role with RED, Peter is also the Head Coach of the Womens and Assistant Coach of the Mens soccer programs at Conestoga College.
Peter holds his Canada Soccer National B and NCSAA Advanced National licences.
